The Philosophy of Evidence-Based Medicine
Jeremy Howick
For much of human history medicine has been largely based on authority - someone had an idea for a treatment, and whether it was used or not depended on how persuasive they were. Now medicine is evidence-based, which is a good thing isn't it? But how can we be sure that EBM isn't just authority based medicine in disguise? And is EBM leading towards a greater medicalization of everyday life. I'm hoping that this book will look at questions like these.
