Why I looked at this book

I'm looking for books on the development of England, but it's hard to find any, at least for the non-specialist. This seems to be a bit earlier than I was looking for, Celtic rather than Anglo-Saxon, but it may be of interest. It looks to be aimed at the non-specialist, in fact from the blurb I'm a bit worried that it's too frivolous. I'll have to see.
