Why I looked at this book

In the last few decades there has been a great increase in inequality, especially in the UK and the USA. It's far from clear (at least to me) that this is just the action of 'free market economics'. I'm hoping that this book will help me understand some of the reasons for this inequality, and suggest some ways to deal with it.

First impressions

In the introduction Atkinson describes the three parts of thee book: 1: The problems of inequality 2:How to deal with it 3:Can it be done. He goes on to argue that the issue has not had sufficient attention from economists, and this book is meant to put that right. It looks well written and I'm interested to find out the suggestions for dealing with inequality.
