Toast and Marmalade

Emma Bridgewater

Why I looked at this book

Emma Bridgewater was one of the subjects of the book The Branded Gentry which I read. I wanted to find out more about her approach to running a business - she seems to want to keep it very personal, rather than letting it gradually be taken over by interchangeable managers. I'm not sure how much this book will deal with this, but I thought it was worth reading anyway.

First impressions

The sample I read was fairly short, and was about Emma's early life - in particular about what her family had for breakfast, which is what you might expect given the title of the book. So not a lot about running a business so far, but I'll have to see. It's written in a lively, easy to read style, so I'll certainly continue to see what the rest of the book has to say.
