Nature's Oracle

Ullica Segerstrale

Why I looked at this book

I know Bill Hamilton did pioneering work in evolution, and that his untimely death in 2000 caused quite a shock in the academic world, but I feel that I should know more about what he did. I hope that this biography will help me to begin to understand his work and the influence it had.

First impressions

The introduction describes Hamilton as something of a rebel, but a '24 hour scientist' - someone who was always trying to understand the world around him. The sample continues with a look at his childhood, which looks rather different from the norm. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
