Why I looked at this book

I have to say that Gwen's book 'Period Piece' is one of my favorite books. I also began to wonder whether the art world which Darwin's granddaughter entered resembled that written about by Huxley's grandson (Crome Yellow) - which seemed to be mostly about people having affairs. Hence I looked for a book on the rest of Gwen Raverat's life.

First impressions

The sample comprises the first chapter and part of the second, and as such it doesn't even get to the point of Gwen's parents meeting each other, but it is an interesting read, and so I have high hopes for the rest of the book.
